My Baba came up with my name when he was living in China. He was on the bus doing his daily commute when he suddenly thought 'What would be a good name for a pug dog?' I should mention at this point that he'd been pug obsessed ever since watching Men In Black! Anyway, the first name that came into his head was - you guessed it - 'Pangpang the Pug' as he'd been teaching his students adjectives from their English textbook, one of which was 'fat' (or 'pang' in Mandarin Chinese). And as many nicknames in Mandarin repeat the same character 'pangpang' was born.
He had to wait 7 years before he could eventually use it but hopefully it was worth the wait!

Yes! Despite my humble origins, I've been fortunate to be involved in some really fun pug model and pug actor projects. Most recently, I recorded an advert for Uber in London which was a great experience. The whole crew spoiled me on set and gave me lots of yummy treats and belly rubs. I had to run and jump onto the sofa and interact with the actress (basically what I do at home 24/7 with Mama and Baba so wasn't too hard for me!) Based on my experiences, dog actors have a pretty sweet life!
I was interviewed on The Jeremy Vine Show which was really cool. Jeremy even fed me some healthy fruit and vegetables on set so I was super excited.
I've also done lots of professional photoshoots and social media posts for dog influencer marketing campaigns which were fun too.
Baba is very protective of me though, so only wants me to have fun, positive experiences that I'll enjoy as being a happy pug always comes first. On my bucket list for the future is to appear in a pug music video and a TV show in the US so I'm dreaming big! It would also be fun to appear on one of my favourite podcasts - Diary of a CEO or Bad Friends!

I often get asked 'what do pug dogs eat?' on my various social media channels as prospective and new pug pawrents are keen to know the best pug food there is to keep their pug buddy healthy. The simple answer is that there is no one answer to the question 'what do pugs like to eat?' and everyone will tell you something different.
From my experience, the best food for a pug is a mixture of dry dog food (kibble) supplemented by dog-friendly fruit and vegetables and fresh dog-friendly meat, fish, and egg. I generally try to avoid processed dog treats (the same way I wouldn't recommend hoomans eat processed foods) as there's often ingredients in them that aren't going to benefit your pug's health.
Dry food vs raw food
I have many dog friends who swear by raw dog food. As a result, I asked my vet whether I should make the switch and he advised against it. He warned me that dogs can get sick from eating raw meat which can contain harmful bacteria. For this reason, I've always been a dry food pug. However, so many friends have made the move over to raw dog food and have been impressed with the results so this is one where I'm not sure what the best option is.
What do pugs eat list:
- Blueberries (many pugs are not fans)
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Banana
- Cucumber
- Carrots
- Salmon (warning: be extra careful to ensure no bones)
- Boiled egg
- Doggie peanut butter
Please note, this list is not intended for pug puppies. I may do a follow-up article on 'what do pug puppies eat?' at a later date.

The importance of speaking to your vet
As always, the above is only my personal diet. Before you introduce any food into your dog's diet, speak to your vet / a professional dog nutritionist about your dog's dietary needs as they are the experts and will create a bespoke plan for your dog based on their specific health needs. This includes safe / healthy portion sizes, raw vs dry food (kibble), allergies etc.
I would also advise being cautious when relying on internet search engines to answer the question what is a safe 'pug food'. As explained, if unsure, always ask your vet who I'm sure will be more than happy to offer advice you can have confidence in.

Who is Pangpang the London Pug's pug best friend?
Pangpang met a black pug called Hannah and she is one adorable pug! They love going for walkies together (and the rest of her grumble) and she is such a cute pug. Beautiful temperament and personality, she welcomed Pangpang into the group immediately and they've been best friends every since. They haven't seen each other in a while though so hopefully they can meet up again soon!
There seem to be lots of pug colors (including rare pug colors). Which different color pugs has Pangpang met?
There really do seem to be lots of new shades of pugs these days. Through Pangpang's pug friend groups, pug meetups, pug cafes and chance meetings, he has met the following types of pug:
Which pug colors does your Baba like best?
All pugs are cute in my opinion! There is no such thing as ugly pugs! The different shades and appearances add variety and they all have their own cute aspects. It's more about the personality of a pug - my Baba loves my black pug friend, Hannah, and we met an adorable brown pug for walkies around the lake. One day Baba hopes to get a black pug so I have a younger brother to go on pugventures with.
Do you have many pug buddies online?
Yes! We've meet lots of adorable pugs on our social channels and love to check in to see how they're doing. We've done lots of dual live videos on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube although other pug accounts don't seem to be doing these as much since lockdown ended. Hopefully, we can continue to meet other pugs and their pawsome pawrents.
